Karan Kapoor, President | This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it Karan Kapoor is a 2010 MBA candidate at the UCLA Anderson School of Management. He is a UCLA Anderson Venture Fellow and currently serves as a member of the Price Center Board of Advisors. This past summer, Karan interned at Waldman Stenstrom Investment Partners (WSIP), a start-up hedge fund focused on long-term value driven investing. At WSIP, Karan helped the fund’s two founding principals review several core long and short positions in the Technology industry. Before attending business school, Karan worked as an Associate at Wedbush Capital Partners, a private equity firm focused on investing in middle market companies in the consumer products, niche manufacturing and business services industries. In this role, he was involved in analyzing potential private equity investments, conducting all aspects of due diligence prior to acquiring companies and actively managing portfolio companies post acquisition. Prior to that Karan worked as a Research Associate in the investments group of Brandes Investment Partners, a leading value based investment advisory firm. While at Brandes, Karan was responsible for making investment recommendations to Brandes' portfolio committees which was responsible for investing more than $100 billion in assets under management. Karan earned his B.B.A. from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin. |

Derek Perlman, Director of Entrepreneurship Programs | This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. He has had a broad range of experiences working with entrepreneurial ventures, joining the movie studio The Weinstein Company just after its founding in 2005 and, previously, overseeing the expansion of a prestigious New England nursery school. Derek also has extensive volunteer experience, working with education-focused non-profits including 826LA, The Riordan Program, and Project Echo. Originally from Boston, Derek earned his BA in Philosophy from Georgetown University. |

You need JavaScript enabled to view it David Franklin is a 2010 MBA Candidate at the UCLA Anderson School of Management. He is a UCLA Anderson Venture Fellow and is one of the first TIP (Technology and Innovation Program) Fellows responsible for structuring this new program at UCLA. David also co-founded DCF Ventures, an organization which helps individuals at various UC Professional Schools realize the commercial value of their research and inventions, in 2008. Before attending UCLA Anderson, David worked in Corporate Strategy for DaVita, Inc. where he was responsible for various projects assigned by the CEO. His projects covered strategy, operations, marketing, corporate finance and venture capital / M&A. Before joining DaVita, he worked for Accenture in their Business Management Consulting group. David ran a student run food delivery business while at Duke with 90 employees and was able to post a 30% increase in profit over previous periods. He also interned while at Duke with Siemens AG (Energy & Automation R&D); General Electric Co. (Aircraft Engines R&D; Co-Inventor Phased Array Ultrasound US Patent #6,789,427); and Procter & Gamble Co. (Business Development). Before these experiences, Mr. Franklin started and sold his own landscaping business. |

Before attending UCLA Anderson, Avani worked at Gursey Schneider, a litigation consulting firm, where she worked on maximizing damage compensation for various civil litigation cases. Before joining Gursey Schneider, Avani received her CPA and worked PricewaterhouseCoopers at the New York headquarters specializing in insurance clients. This past summer, Avani interned at Mattel. |

Michael Lui, Director of Strategic Initiatives | This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it Mike is a 2010 MBA candidate at UCLA Anderson focused on entrepreneurship and strategy. Prior to business school, Mike spent 4 years consulting for the Corporate Strategy group at Deloitte. While there, he worked over three continents across industries on projects in customer & channel strategy, supply chain strategy, and M&A. Throughout this time, he also served in the United States Army Reserve with a one year deployment to Iraq from June ’05 – June ’06. In Iraq, Mike managed a $12MM reconstruction budget in a hostile area south of Baghdad. He led a squad of US soldiers as well as Iraqi Engineers and liaised with the Iraqi Interim Government and the US State Dept. For his efforts, he was awarded the US Bronze Star, the Army Commendation medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, and the Army Achievement Medals. At Anderson, Mike is the Director for Strategic Initiatives for the EA, Co-President of the Running & Triathlon Club, and a member of Vistage Executive Development. Prior to Anderson, Mike earned a BS in Economics & International Business at Penn State. |

Prior to UCLA Anderson, Eric spent four years in the investment banking and international trade industries. As an Investment Banking Associate at Banc of America Securities and Piper Jaffray, Eric advised financial institutions on mergers, acquisitions and capital raising transactions. He then joined H&C Industries, a family-owned international trade business dealing with the sales and distribution of chemical and raw materials. Eric studied Economics and Computer Science at Northwestern University and speaks conversational Chinese and Taiwanese. His hobbies include golf and tennis, wine tasting, trying new restaurants, playing board games and being a Lakers fan. Eric’s interests lie in international business, entrepreneurship and real estate. This past summer, he worked as a Strategy Intern for Yahoo! Post-MBA, Eric plans to focus on a real estate business and rejoin H&C Industries as a business development manager. |

Sunny Saran, Director of FEMBA/EMBA Programs | This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it Sabarinath 'Sunny' Saran is a 2010 Fully Employed MBA candidate at the UCLA Anderson School of Management. He is the Director of the FEMBA Programs for the Enterpreneur Association and an External Representative for his FEMBA Section. Sunny is a serial enterpreneur and an execution expert. He has helped several startups execute their strategies and meet their revenue goals successfully. Presently he is the Chief Executive Officer at IT Resources International, an IT contract staffing firm based out of Los Angeles, CA and Clifton, NJ. While still at UCLA Anderson, Sunny has started a new startup by name E2O with his Anderson classmates which provides Business Intelligence Consulting, Training and Managed Support Services for MidSized Healthcare, Insurance and Entertainment companies. He is also a very active member of a Los Angeles based non-profit called Crossing the Digital Divide which provides Recovering Addicts with computer training and job search. In 2006, he received an Award from the Mayor of Los Angeles for his outstanding leadership for CDD. Sunny graduated with a dual degree in Economics and Chemical Engineering from BITS-Pilani in India. |

Prior to business school, Gohar worked to increase revenue and market share for small entrepreneurial start ups a well as more established companies. She started off at the Corporate Executive Board, an executive education and consulting firm, where she established relationships with Fortune 500 companies and along with a regional director, closed almost $2 million in new revenue. She then joined Oodle.com, a venture capital funded web start up, where she led marketing programs and managed relationships with the company's media partners. While working at Oodle, the number of unique visitors to the website more than doubled. While at Oodle, she also volunteered with the Full Circle Fund, a hands on philanthropy group, where she led a team to fund a project leveraging social networks to help with teacher retention. Gohar is interested in entrepreneurship, technology, media and social change. Gohar graduated from Stanford where she studied International Relations and German. |
