Startup 101
The Startup 101 program is composed of four distinct areas: eLabs, Knap Prep, VC 101, and Deal Review. Each aspect of Startup 101 deals with start-up businesses in one way or another. For more detail, please see below.
eLabs
Entrepreneurship Labs (eLabs) are an opportunity for students to pitch their business ideas and get constructive feedback in a fun and supportive environment. eLabs is one of the most popular EA programs and is a great place to test an idea, form a team, or find a mentor. At each event, students are encouraged to share their business ideas with an audience of Anderson students. After a short description, the audience will give feedback, suggestions and criticisms that are often invaluable in the development of a business idea.
Knap Prep
The Knapp Venture Competition is one of the flagship events for the Entrepreneur Association. Knapp Prep is all about getting students ready for the competition. This is done mostly in the form of professor-led lectures about various aspects of forming a Knapp team and writing a business plan. Knapp Prep is also in charge of encouraging students from all of UCLA’s professional schools to compete in Knapp.
VC100 Series
The VC 100 Series gives students an overview of the venture capital industry. Events build from a broad introduction to the industry to advanced topics including term sheets and valuation. From newbies to VC stalwarts, everyone will learn something from the VC 100 Series.
Deal Review
Deal Review allows students the opportunity to evaluate and provide feedback on student business plans competing in the Knapp Venture Competition. To participate in Deal Review, you must have a background in venture capital, start-ups, or business plans.
